Calorimetry & Oxygen Consumption
De Basef
Calorimetry is defined as being the amount of heat produced, measured in calories.
We can measure someone's methabolic rate by measuring the heat produced.
Oxygen is consumed by the body for the energy production when the muscles are working.
A direction relationship exists between the amount of oxygen consumed and the amount of heat produced.
By measuring the rate of oxygen consumption we can get a very good estimate of individual's methabolic rate.
